As part of our ongoing
commitment to offering the best in customer service, Simmonds Polishing keeps
records of every project we undertake.
Often we see a panel or
two come back needing repairs. It may just be a small scratch or perhaps
something more serious. Sometimes a client may supply additional joinery that
must match the original painting we did previously.
The actual work of
painting is not normally a problem. Where the trouble arises is determining
what colour was originally sprayed on the job. For this reason, we record every
colour we spray on every job we undertake.
Often the client is
unable to remember the specified colour or they may have filed all the
paperwork away, so our records are invaluable in determining what colour is
required.
As a minimum we record
the clients name, the date, what product we used, the colour and the gloss
level. If our client supplies the information to us we then also record an
order number and project name or number. When an item comes back for painting
we simply search our data base using the information supplied by the client and
we can quickly determine the colour and gloss level required to undertake the
new painting. Many times, a client may only be able to tell us that the project
was undertaken at a particular time in the past. With a little effort, we will
be able to find the project information and determine the colour and gloss level
required.
If the project was
undertaken within the last two years, then we would normally still have a litre
of lacquer kept in stock from the actual materials used on the original joinery
painting.
It is not uncommon to
be asked to paint some joinery from a project undertaken by our clients two,
three, four or even five years prior, so having records to refer back to makes
everyone’s life a lot easier.
