We have recently purchased a new profile sander. This machine is used to
sand raw, MDF and timber doors. When set up correctly we will be able to sand
both raw MDF and timber, also two pack undercoat as we can install
different grades of sandpaper to suit differing sanding needs.
Simon is currently experimenting and fine tuning the machine to meet the
sanding requirements we have.
The unique properties of this particular sander are we can install two
differing grades of sandpaper on the one discs and then run the disks either
forward or backwards to use the alternate grades of sandpaper.
We are also looking to install wire brushes in the near future. This
will allow us to produce a wire brushed affect for timber flooring or timber
veneer. This unique finish opens up the pours of the timber and gives you that
weathered/well worn look where the soft grain is worn away and the hard grain
is left proud of the surface. Some people refer to this look as wire brushed,
others call it a sand blasted affect.
Along side this new profile sander we have also installed a new twin
roller, belt sander. This sander is used to sand raw MDF, Melamine or Timber
and with the quick change of sanding belts it can then sand two pack undercoat
as well.
It is anticipated that these two sanders will reduce our sanding time
for flat and routed joinery by as much as 60%.
