Poor Quality lacquer is false economy

We have lost count of the number of times we have been asked to repair discoloured two pack painting such as these two kitchen cupboard doors.

The client had a vinyl wrap kitchen installed around 15 years ago and unfortunately the vinyl on two doors started to peel off. They contacted a polishing contractor and asked to have the doors painted in a two pack finish to match the existing vinyl colour.

So far so good.

12 months later the two painted doors had faded so much that they were a completely different colour.

We were then contacted and asked to repaint the doors again.

If only the first contractor had spent a couple of extra dollars and purchased a superior quality lacquer in the first place, then repainting would not have been required.

We see it as false economy to save perhaps $2-4.00 per litre by purchasing lacquer that is of inferior quality with no longevity. You are better off spending a couple of extra dollars and you won’t get a call back in the future with dramatically faded paintwork that needs to be redone.

Even more distressing for the client was when they approached the original painting contractor, they were shown the door with no regard for wanting to help out.

Unfortunately, we see this situation all too often. Why not just used the best quality lacquers you can find and give the client a quality finish that will last for years to come.
